Create your Own iBlog App

Any volunteers?

Oh, it will cost someone $99 to actually login as an Apple Developer so any apps can be distributed via the App Store.

Android: http://premium.wpmudev.org/project/wp-for-android/ , http://wpappmaker.com/video-tutorial/

I don’t have anything running on Android so I can’t even begin here.

Beta Test TypingWeb

I need some, err, Guinea pigs to test a “free” online typing program. It looks good so far, I just need a few sample students to simulate the process to see if it will work for us at STJ.

What I am able to determine so far is as teacher: I can maintain groups of students, collect data, monitor results, and test. That’s all good stuff from my end.

I really do not know what the app looks like from a student point of view, so before jumping in to the deep end with it I’d like a few industrious, curious students to give is an honest try.

Let me know if you would like to be a tester of this online keyboarding course.

Twelve Bar “Blues”

Read Neil Harbisson and his Sonochromatic music scale, first. You will also need the ColorSay app for iPhone (and PhotoShop).

Create a Twelve Bar Blues animated GIF.

If you use 4 iPhones, each on a separate quadrant of colour, you should be playing a C7 chord.

Now add the remaining “bars” using one of the common twelve-bar blues progressions.

Dedicate one of the quadrants for the “boogie woogie” line.

Sonochromatic Animated GIF

Create your own harmonious “ColorSay” composition as an animated GIF.

Use PhotoShop as your tool for making the “score”.
Use the ColorSay app from my previous post as your musical instrument.

What songs do these pictures sing?

Retro Mac ~ 1994

Want to see what connecting the the internet looked and felt like circa 1995?

eWorld - an "All-The-Right Type-ish" version of the interweb from 1995. Seriously, I once paid $5/h for this.

The eWorld News links in this sim don’t work today, but it is where I first found out a significant piece of “live” news way back on April 19, 1995.

Oh, the modem squawks in the sim last a few seconds, but in ’95 I could pop a bag of microwave popcorn while waiting for just the home screen to load.

Inserting A Gallery into a Post

I have a small peeve with the default behaviour of a gallery. It takes a few clicks to see an image in its original size.

So I offer the following tips.

1. Add link=”file” to your gallery short code.

2. Enable “Lightbox 2” or “jQuery Colorbox” plugin so your images have that certain Je ne sais pas.

Extra Tip: I used the iPhone Dead Yourself App to doctor the images of my family and then uploaded them to this blog with the WordPress app.
