“I start with Precision Power at 40 (vs 50-60)”

“I always suggest starting very conservative with a lower setting because you can always run the engraving again and take away more material, but you can’t put it back.”

WebCam Test

As the world shifts to WebCams, it may be useful to know the framerate or resolution your camera supports.

I found in a closet box of old tech a 10-year-old Logitech cam. I plugged in via USB and low and behold it actually has better resolution than the front-facing camera on my 2019 iPad.

I just thought I would share that tidbit.

When Creating EPS or AI, Mode CYMK or RGB?

RGB

Recently, when setting up a project for printing/cutting with the Roland VersaCamm, the black wasn’t true black. On screen all looked good, but when printing and cutting, the colour values on the black in particular were noticably not black.

After much trial and error, I found the following workaround recommended at the Roland site forums: create your graphic in RGB mode even when sending to a CYMK printer.

Hardly an intuitive solution, but it worked.

Colour Swatches in Adobe ought be RGB as well.

Set RGB values in swatches. Black is 0,0,0.

I don’t know why. Recent product updates to the drivers behind the printer or Adobe may be at play.

When exporting as EPS, do not include CYMK data.
