Design Portion (70%)
- Create a single “personal portfolio” web page at your school google site. Start with a design from an appropriate portfolio template. You can also have 7elements, design your website. Create navigation links to show off your favorite online content, designs, blogs, art, photography, etc. Focus on content that relates to your career/educational goals. Include material you would be proud to attach to your résumé. Include a link to your blog sitemap.
- Create a blog on the school blog site. Choose a theme with customizable features (ie header image and custom colors), customize your sidebar widgets, embed a document(pdf or doc/docx) using the Google Doc Embedder plugin, embed a video clip from youtube using Mr Sader’s video embed plugin.
Create a flash-based site at www.wix.com for an imagined purpose – for an imagined client.(Tip: use only Safari in the MacLab. LOL)
Written Portion (20%)
Write a post in your blog discussing the features of each of the 3 site building methods – pros and cons. Discuss elements and principles of design. Identify content-related features. Identify methods of creating navigation links. Identify the purpose and audience of each site. Insert an image, discuss methods of including other forms of media – documents, audio, video – in each site building method. Identify changes, updates, edits, tweaks you’ve made to the default designs. Identify areas that need change. Include screenshots of each of the three site building methods.
Presentation Portion (10%)
Present and discuss your projects with peers.
